Fishing for Cats

We are the proud owners of two of the World's Laziest Cats, as evidenced by this post. Emily thought they could use some exercise, and I had to agree. So we made cat toys from some of our fabric scraps, and filled them with catnip!

We attached the filled catnip fish to a dowel rod, and went fishing for cats. I'll have to put these away before Mark comes home from work. He's allergic to catnip... but our cats sure seemed to enjoy them!

The cats were purring non-stop, and Emily was giggling like crazy! Ah, the fun of fishing for cats!

I have 5 days to sew a yellow cat costume for my feline-loving son (he won't settle for lion or tiger or black cat. Must be a "yaya meow meow!" I'm told). Glad the cats got to share in your frugal family fun. :)

We love our tubby nappies (cats) here!! And Nappy actually does snore, like your tabby.

Goose has figured out that she can pull a seamstress measuring tape (she has one in her toys) and get the cats to chase it. Except she ends up laughing so hard that she forgets to keep running. Good times!

Hi Valerie

What a lucky cat you have, as he/she even benefits from all of your crafty goodness. This is a great idea and I imagine it would be funny to watch the cat batting away at this creation.

Your little girl is gorgeous and that princess hairstyle looks beautiful on her. My little girl has a head full of very curly and wild hair, so I'm not sure how we would go with this, but I know she would love this hairstyle.

The Pumpkin Patch Playset is adorable. What fun! You came up with the cutest ideas and I can just imagine the endless amount of enjoyment this wonderful creation would bring.

I hope Mark recovers.

This summer I read that catnip is ten times more effective at repelling mosquitoes than DEET!

I'm glad your cats got some exercise.

Now I bet those were some happy cats. Hope Mark recovers.

They sure are cute though.

@ Lisa Anne -- Yeah, so what if Mark passes out from allergies? The important thing is that the cats have super-cute toys, dammit! ;-)

Valerie October 20, 2009 1:36 PM

@ Christy -- I never knew that!! Fascinating!!!

Those are cute pet toys. :)

I don't have a cat but already forwarded this to my mom. She has a couple cats and is crafty. I am sure she will appreciate it.
