As promised in yesterday’s post, here’s what we’ve been working on…. a doll made from felt! This handsewn doll became an instant treasure, and Emily has named her Rose. Rose was easy to make, though she did take a few days to complete.
I made two dresses (one red, one blue), and Emily loves to pretend that the red dress is a pajama dress, and the blue dress is for wearing during the day.
We have also discovered that Rose knows how to dance! She is very flexible, and has great rhythm. She is most proficient in tap and ballet. Although she wears special quiet tap shoes.
The best part about this project, is that you can make one too! Thanks to this lovely (and free) downloadable pattern and tutorial from purl bee. The pattern was developed by the lovely, talented, and extremely generous Mimi Kirchner. Mimi, my daughter thanks you!!

Dear Valerie,
From what I can see, this looks awesome. Hopefully my eye heals enough after yesterday's … event … that I can see it better later in the week.
Love,
Mark

Awww, she's a cutey. And the doll is too
Mine are still half done hidden from sight. I'll get there eventually though. I loves me some Purl Bee! The mittens and granny square slippers on there are awesome too and in a half finished state for xmas as well.
I have a total fascination with Mimi's dolls. Have you seen the tatooed muscle men ones? Genius!

@ Kitten Muffin — How do you manage to keep this amount of cuteness hidden?? I bet the girls will be so incredibly surprised! Emily is asking me to make her a muscle man doll. lol She must think I'm some sort of toy factory.

I've been lurking here for a while now and I just wanted to say how much I love your blog. It's so inspiring, and as a lifelong cynic, that's saying something for me.

That is so cute! I like how the things that you make are not only home- and handmade, but also foster imagination. So cool. I wish you lived closer so my children could come to your house to play and create.
Are you making some of those as gifts as well? Selling in your store?

@ Petula — The pattern is for personal use only, so I won't be selling these in the shop. If I have enough time before the holidays, I would love to make more for gifts. This one took 4 days to complete, but I really took my time with it. They are lots of fun to make!
