When will the snow ever end??? I don’t know about you guys, but all this whiteness and being cooped up in the house for far too long was enough to drive us all a little coo-coo. So this afternoon I took Emily with me to the dollar store for another $5 Friday adventure! This time we focused on only buying items that made us smile.
We learned many things along the way! For example, did you know that curling ribbon makes for excellent pig tail holders?
Or that a five year old can fit one candy lollipop ring on each finger?
I think these shoelaces are AWESOME! But it wasn’t until much later that Mark pointed out to me that they glow in the dark! Now I think they are even MORE AWESOME!
Of course, we love flowers of all kinds! These bunches of fake flowers even had fake butterflies on them.
Blowing bubbles is always fun, but we managed to find fruit-scented ones that were even more fun! (Although I don’t think they would taste very good at all.)
Here’s the breakdown for how we spent our $5 today:
Curling Ribbon (3 pack) = $1.00
Shoelaces = $1.00
Lollipop Rings (6 pack) = $1.00
Fake Flowers = $1.00
Scented Bubbles (3 pack) = $1.00
Total Spent = $5.00!!
Having a fun “snow” day with my girls = Priceless!!

Dear Valerie,
You know, I'm sure you could have fit one more on Emily's thumb.
Also, I'm sure Clara will let you know how good (or bad) the bubbles taste. :-9
Love,
Mark

I love the curly ribbon in her hair!

I love the curly ribbon ponytail holders. I'm going to have to do that one day. Sounds perfect for Anna's birthday.
Glow in the dark as well? All the kids would love having some of those – even Amber. That's a perfect $5 Friday. I get a kick out of even purchasing one thing for myself from the Dollar Store. I had to get stuff there for a project that Andre has and I bought some cute note cards that are blank on the inside (8 for $1) I'm going to take an old-fashioned moment and send a few thinking of you cards.
Have a great weekend.

Great post! I love it! We are big fans of the dollar stores too. The curly ribbon is super cute, and I think the shoelaces are fantastic! I have never seen ring pops like that! My kids would love them. When my oldest was little, he took classes at The Little Gym and they used edible bubbles in the class. I haven't seen them since, but the kids loved them!

Your dollar store is much nicer than the one closest to me! At ours most things are even more than a dollar….

More than a dollar??
Oh, the humanity!!!!

@ Christy — Thanks so much! Two of Emily's favorite things to do when going outside isn't an option – visit the bookstore and the dollar store. We always find such great inspiration, and this trip did not disappoint! So much fun!

My kids would love me forever if I let them do that!

@ Raising a Happy Child — I wasn't very picky. As long as it made us smile and we stayed within our $5 budget, I was all for it!

Looks like it was fun and Emily is very photogenic. I also wanted to let you know that we made Valentine cards over here at the begining of the month inspired by your Valentine posts, so if you want to check them out when you get a chance.

This is a great idea! Have you ever thought about creating a MCKlinky for other readers/followers of your blog to do this along with you?? I know I sure would love to link up with your $5 dollar fridays!

What camera do you use? I love your pictures. I did the curly cue hair ties for my daughters ballet updos, super cute! I can’t seem to get off your site, can you tell?
