Emily was so happy to make her own stamp wheel so she could create this fun rainy day picture! The stamp wheels were easy to make and made good use of recyclables.
We used some foam stickers we had on-hand, in this case, clouds and raindrops. Emily started by sticking the cloud stickers around an empty packaging tape tube. We try to find ways to recycle just about anything in our household!
Next, she used an ink pad on the stickers.
Then it was time to rock ‘n ROLL — all along the top edge of the paper! FUN!!
Repeat the process with the raindrop stickers to make another stamp wheel, and roll the raindrop stamps all over the paper. This rolling stamp thing — it just never gets old!

Very cute. We did this around St. Patrick's Day with a paper towel roll, but the curve was too much and the stickers didn't stick well. The tape roll is wider and I bet it worked well! I'll have to revisit this with my next empty roll!

Oooh, if she really liked this, then let her have a go with the rolling pin. We first did it back in 2008, and the kids love it. Makes very cheap and fun wrapping paper too! Now I have to keep an eye out for rolling pins every time we are in Goodwill, because the kids are building a collection!

I reckon Emily would get a kick out of the scale of doing it with a rolling pin too.

@ Raising a Happy Child — I struggle with the timing of things. For instance, I always seem to get my best ideas when I'm changing a diaper, or in the shower, or cooking dinner. Never when I can get to a sheet of paper or a pencil to write things down! I need to invest in a tape recorder, I think! Do they make waterproof tape recorders for the shower?

Oh, I love this. I am going to do it with my daycare tots next week. Last week we made rain, too — only with packing tape and glitter — to go with our duct-tape-and-cotton-ball clouds.
Because really, which would you rather do with a week of rain — complain about it, or use it as inspiration for crafting?
