We spent a good deal of time outside this afternoon, and a small pocket of that time was spent making these super-quick leaf necklaces! To make your own, you will need a small cutting board, clear contact paper, a hole punch, string/yarn, and some metal cookie cutters.
Gather up some leaves! Emily thought these small green leaves would make perfect necklaces, so she picked plenty of them from our backyard. Press down firmly on the leaf using a metal cookie cutter on a cutting board. It may be easier to use a dishtowel on top of the cookie cutter, and then press down on top of that to keep your fingers from getting sore.
The set of cookie cutters we used can be found at Amazon, click here. They are also available at AC Moore. It is a complete set with numbers and letters, and they are SO much fun!!!
Sandwich the leaf between two sheets of clear contact paper, and use a hole punch to thread some string for your personalized necklace.
Admire your fantastic leaf necklace!!!
Emily made a couple more of these to give away to friends too!
Have fun!!

Well, I am glad that you are doing SOMETHING with cookie cutters.
Personally, I would rather you made cookies. Wait. No. I’ve had your cookies. Carry on, then.
Love,

Fantastic! I also followed your ‘links within’, and loved the leaf garland and the fall tree suncatcher. You make crafts look good, lady!

Practice practice…
I think we’ll give the necklace a try … my girl will LOVE it

Salaam and peace.
I bought a mega roll of the clear contact paper; score! So far we have used it to make a sun-catcher with torn tissue paper and my step-son used it to make a really cool hand-colored montage to go on his “homework” folder. I’m see lots more projects in the future with this handy-dandy stuff. Thanks for the tip!

This is so cute! I’m so very deficient in the craft-making idea category…
And LOL to Mark!

There is some truth to Mark’s comment — LOL! I let him do all the baking…. and he’s MUCH better than I am, as is the case with most things, I think.

Oh yes, we go through a lot of clear contact paper here, but it comes in handy for SOOOO many different projects! And it’s a great non-messy alternative to glue.

Hello Valerie, I think this is a great Idea for our School-Autumn-Party!
But, this clear contact paper, I don“t know this in Germany. Is it plastic?

Ooo we have a Sizzix machine- I bet that would work for cutting out letters too! I am trying this next week with my class!
