Falling Leaves Wrapping Paper

September marks the beginning of the birthday season for many members of our family, so Clara and I made some fun autumn wrapping paper this afternoon! This is a super-simple project that even the little ones can do with great success. All you need to make your own are some toilet paper rolls, paint, and some freezer paper — that’s it!

I cut the toilet paper rolls in half, and smooshed them a bit to look like leaves. Then Clara dipped them in some paint…..

….and had a blast stamping leaves all over our freezer paper!!

We used fall colors of yellow, orange, red, and brown…. so colorful!! We used a different toilet paper roll stamper for each paint color.

Allow all the paint to dry, then wrap up your gift!!

I like to add a pretty bow, just for fun!

  15. In our town there is a recycling trailer behind the newspaper printing place . I asked for permission and went in . There I found a whole pile of blanks,Papers that didn’t print. I am all set to do this on my free paper!!!

  18. I love it! Seriously I sometimes can’t decide what I like more…the creative projects or the smiles of your girls every time they are doing a project!

  19. I just saw in a magazine the other day a similar project! Use the toilet paper rolls and dip them in either orange or red paint to make pumpkins or apples. I will be using your idea too! Thanks!

  20. We also did this to make “flowers”! Just smoosh them to make ONE crease for a “petal” shape. I glued 5-6 rolls together (crease side in the middle, rounded side out) and my daughter LOVED playing with it!
