Indoor Leaf Pile!

Tired of rainy days??

For a good time, cut out leaves from several sheets of colored tissue paper — you can cut through several sheets at one time, so it goes quickly.

Play in your indoor leaf pile!!!!!

These leaves are great fun to toss around!

It’s fun for grown-ups, and kids alike!

Rake them back up……

….and toss again and again! We covered a bean bag chair with the leaves and the girls took turns jumping into the “pile”.

Have fun!!

  1. And I thought I was the queen of messy play. I love the photo of you with the leaves in the air. Wonderful photos!

    • It’s surprisingly not that messy, since they all raked up into a brown paper bag…. but then the cat had fun playing in said paper bag, and they ended up all over the floor again! but you get the idea. πŸ˜‰

  2. Luckily, our weather has been perfect for outdoor leaf piles – but I’ll keep this in mind if it starts raining, or fails to warm up, after the frost, one of these days – I’m sure the kids would love it πŸ™‚

  3. What a great idea! Awesome pictures.

  4. I was thinking about doing this next week. We’re supposed to have two days of crappy weather – so this will be perfect!

  5. oo so much fun! I love the rake to rake them up πŸ™‚

  6. Great! I love seeing kids having a blast doing something simple that doesn’t have music or buttons!

    • LOL That pretty much sums up life in this house about 90% of the time! I’m always amazed at how many toys have flashing lights or make super-annoying sounds, and my girls would rather play with the cardboard box. πŸ™‚

  7. You and your girls always look to be having so much fun.

  8. So much fun! The great thing is that you can always use the tissue paper for something else after you are done with the leaf pile!

  9. I’ve just “fallin'” in love with this activity! (hee! hee!)

  10. We are SO doing that. Perfect cure to National Grouch Day!

  11. Wow! what a creative idea. I need to get some tissue paper then. I only have pink and no where near enough to do that.

I would of never thought to do that!

    I just love your blog!!

    • It’s cheapest at the dollar store, I think. This is so much fun!! Enjoy, and I’m SO happy you’ve been enjoying FFFB! πŸ˜€

  12. You are a super fun mom. And I think we’ll try this out, one of these rainy days…

  13. I know for a fact that My Hannah will love this. She recently cut & colored (itty bitty) flowers and put them in her Flower Girl basket (from a recent wedding she was in) and she happily skipped threw the house tossing them. So that is no doubt she will love this.

  14. Oh, how fun! Even my older girls would love this and of course my 2 year old boy would think it was fun. He loves throwing things so getting permission to throw in the house would be great!

  15. How much fun, we rarely get leaf piles to play in in autumn ’cause most of our trees are evergreen, so an indoor pile would be just the thing!

    • I have a love/hate relationship with them. Raking the real leaves can be a lot of work! But these are much more fun (and colorful) to play with. Have fun!!

  16. 1) Where’s Mark???
    2) This is too fun, I’ll be linking (I’m SO FAR behind – eek)
    3) Clara is getting more and more adorable by the second! Love her outfit!

    • LOL He must have heard you, see below!

Thanks SO much for the link love!!!

Thank you!! I can’t believe how much she has grown — it all goes by so incredibly fast!

  17. Dear Valerie,

It is supposed to be nice this Sunday. Maybe you and the girls can take care of the REAL LEAVES IN OUR YARD?

    Love,
    Mark

  18. OMG! I LOVE the pic of your oldest daughter in the leaves!!! Try to get any professional photographer to catch a smile like that. It isn’t happening. Utter joy πŸ™‚ We will definitely be making a pile of these after q.t. (quiet time/nap time)

    • Awww… thanks so much!! She had SO much fun with this!!!! I’m SO happy you’ll be trying it too. Enjoy!! xoxo

  19. Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting.
Wondering what part of PA you live in.
This activity looks great. Gotta find me a little rake.

  20. I love it! We did this last week and it was so much fun. We also tore some brown packing paper into large pieces, and balled it up a bit, so that it makes a sound like crunching leaves when you walk/play in it. We set it up under a brown paper tree with cut out leaves that we had taped to the wall. It has been so much fun that we’ve left it up and played with it all week.

  21. I don’t think my kids have a clue what falling leaves look like aside from on TV…….

    • I grew up with a large amount of leaves in my parents yard — so much work to rake them all, but so much fun to play in the pile when we were done! Must be nice to live in such a warm place all year round!

  22. Hi Valerie,

Just wanted to let you know I nominated you in the 2010 Homeschool Blog Awards (Best Thrifty Homeschooler). πŸ™‚

    Warmly,
    Mari-Ann

  23. Now that looks like so much fun. Another great idea!

  24. LOVE this! Sometimes I wish I could pick your brain for upcoming books that we are rowing. . . I am book marking this for sure!

  25. Whoever took your picture did a great job. It looks like great fun for everyone!

  26. What a crazy fun idea!!

  27. What a great idea! We have all sorts of allergies here and playing in the leaves can make us really sick, but we want to so much. Thanks for an alternative idea!

    • I can relate to that! There’s some type of mold I don’t tolerate very well, and it can make my allergies flare up too. Fortunately, the girls don’t seem to have any problems, but this is a great alternative, and LOTS of fun!!! Enjoy!!
