Complimentary Placemats

After the girls went to bed, Mark and I thought it would be fun to make up our own breakfast placemats filled with compliments for one another using pieces of colored paper which were laminated with clear contact paper. This way, we can start our day with lots of positive thoughts, and it was a super-fun project for both of us! Besides, who couldn’t use a few more compliments, right??

He worked on my placemat…….

…while I worked on his! We kept a strict NO peeking policy while we were hard at work.

Then it was time for the big reveal!!

I love how he made a mirror with a smoothed out piece of foil, AND there is a special place for my cup of tea!!! This placemat really makes me smile!!

Some of his favorite compliments from me:

“You’re so GOOD at opening jars!!”
“You’re the BEST bug-killer!”
“Wow! You’re HOT!!”
“Have YOU been working OUT??”

And from Mark:

“Look Who is Awesome!! (Hint: It is you!)”
“Others want what you HAVE!” … then in small letters “Me!”
“Brains? check. Beauty? check. Age-defying? check. Yup! You have it all!”

We can’t wait to use our new placemats for breakfast every day — this way, we’ll be giving each other compliments on even the most rushed mornings.

Have fun!

  2. I was flipping through a magazine last night and I saw an article that said “Surviving 19 years of Marriage.” Why surviving? Why not Laughing through. . . or Loving every minute of. . . or So Very Lucky to have. . .

Your post is exactly the marriage article I wanted read. Can’t wait to surprise my Hubby with one.

  15. I was just looking back at this post, and I was thinking about what an important parenting lesson this was. Not only are you guys being nurturing and supportive of each other, but indirectly you were teaching the girls about positive praise and internal rewards. I am so blessed by this idea and plan to make one for my hubby tonight with leftover papers.
