Tiny Easter Baskets

Know what’s cuter than Easter baskets?? Teensy Tiny Easter Baskets filled with little chocolate eggs!!!

I know, right??? SO cute!!!!

To make your own, cut up an empty cardboard egg carton and invite the kiddos over to paint the cups, forming the “basket”! We used washable paint, and it worked quite well.

Clara wanted to paint several of these in different colors — yay!!!

Allow the baskets to dry completely, then use a hole punch on either side to attach a pipe cleaner “handle”. Adorable!!!

Easy, frugal, and SUPER cute!!!

Have fun!!

  1. Dear Valerie,

Now Clara is never going to want to eat chicken eggs now that she knows that chocolate eggs exist!

    Love,
    Mark

  2. So cute!!!

  3. Adorable! My daughter is obsessed with making things from pipe cleaners, so she would adore this one. This almost makes me want to break down and give the poor kids some candy for once 😉
BUT I have an idea – when they paint eggs at their great-grandmas, we could place one colored egg in each ‘basket’ to present them as gifts!

  4. Hi! They look great. A little tip I read on the internet yesterday so thought I’d pass on. DON’T use scissors to cut pipe cleaners, it blunts them – use wire cutters instead. Loving all your makes so thanks for showing us them. Nicky (UK) x

  5. Cute!! We will have to do that but fill ours with jelly beans.. my son doesn’t like chocolate.. weird huh?

  6. Oh, truly adorable! I can see those baskets whisked away for pretend games too.

  7. Those are adorable! I will have to try those with my little ones!

  8. These are darling!

  14. Our Babie’s now have Easter baskets.

  15. Yup, super cute and super frugal.

  16. I absolutely love this idea. Like you said, simple and frugal. Thanks for sharing. Hope you don’t mind that I’ve added this to my list of things parents can do with children. The link is at my blog over here:

  17. Oops…I missed the part where you said CARDBOARD egg cartons. We made them with mostly cardboard ones. They were so cute that I wanted to make more – be advised, the paint comes right off of regular egg cartons. This is such an adorable craft though!!!

  18. My girls made these today for their American Girl dolls – so cute and easy! Maybe the Easter Bunny will leave a surprise in them… 🙂
