Father’s Day Gifts Kids Can Make

Want to get a head start on some Father’s Day gifts?? We’ll be posting lots more gift ideas for Dad in the days ahead, but here are some fun projects from our archives that the kids can make to give to Dad on his special day.

Get out some old Legos and let the kids stamp a sheet of green paper to make this circuit board pencil holder!

These fish magnets Emily painted for Mark are used almost every day on our fridge. You can make your own using handles from old wooden paint brushes!

These fish cards are easy for kids to make using color coding labels!

Another gift that still gets lots of use around here are these tile coasters the girls made — easy, fun, and super frugal to make!

Have some old computer disks laying around?? Add a few binder clips and favorite photos to make a fun brag book!

Have fun!!

  1. Dear Valerie,

Aaah! I might need that floppy disk some day! That might have been my root/boot disk from Slackware 3.4!

    Love,
    Mark

  2. Great ideas, and timely! I was just starting to think about what we might need to make for Father’s Day!

  3. What great ideas! I wish I had known about your blog when I was a preschool teacher!

The ocasters are something my Brownie troop can make as gifts next holiday season. We can;t do it for Father’s Day as we only have one meeting left and it is planned!

  4. Hmmm…… that circuit board one could be good for my programmer husband……..

  5. Hi Valerie,
My name is Leslie Goldman and i’m a writer with LHJ.com (Ladies’ Home Journal), working on a slideshow of tips on throwing fabulous summer parties – specifically, graduation parties, Father’s Day celebrations, backyard BBQs, bridal showers, etc. I found these cute DIY inviteshttp://www.frugalfamilyfunblog.com/2010/07/diy-summer-party-invites.html on your website and was hoping to feature them. Would you be OK with that? Any chance you have any other ideas for DIY invites for a graduation party, bridal shower, etc?
Maybe we can slate a quick phone interview.
    Many thanks!

  8. I love the disk frame! What a great idea! Now can I find any in my junk.

  9. We made the circuit board and the disk frame for Christmas! My oldest was 2 1/2 at the time and the circuit board was something even he could do. Perfect gift for the IT husband. Now I want to try out the fish magnets. My husband loves to fish!!! Plus we can always use more magnets. Thanks for always having great ideas on the cheap!
