Emily and I made a fun discovery this afternoon! Did you know that you can use washable glue stick to adhere tissue paper to glass??! When it’s time to change out the display, peel off the tissue paper and wipe the leftover glue stick clean with a damp sponge. (Try a small test area first, just to be safe.)
We cut several leaves from colored gift tissue paper, and Emily spent a long time arranging the leaves around the window to make a beautiful frame. Once they were in place, we used black tempera paint for the veins of the leaves. So much FUN!!
It was a colorful (and frugal) way to celebrate the beginning of Autumn, and I can’t help but smile every time I open the door!
Emily is so proud of how bright and cheerful it is when the sunshine comes through — beautiful!

Oh you’re awesome Val. This has been on my list, but I didn’t like the way I’ve seen it adhered to the window before (mainly because I didn’t have it!) -I have glue sticks, that’s for sure. And its so easy for the kids to do. We’re definitely doing this now. I can’t wait!

Beautiful! I would love to try it with my daughter. We used washable glue once to adhere a waldorf star (made from kite paper) to a window and it worked just fine. It washed off fairly easily after several months of being on the window actually!

This was an awesome idea. My son and I decorated our bay window yesterday and added a cling-stick skeleton for Halloween. The leaves suddenly became body casts for the skeleton. It was hilarious! What a fun afternoon activity. Thanks for the idea.

This is awesome. Just a warning. It doesn’t come off as easy as you think. Just use a dab, enough to hold it on or you’ll end up with sore arms rubbing the window clean.
