Homemade Rhythm Set

Using some PVC pipe, a few recyclables, and some other household items, we made a fun rhythm set!!

The sticks were made using empty heavy-duty cardboard rolls from plastic wrap. (I ask friends to save them for us!) Since most of the items were plastic, the “music” didn’t get too loud.

Clara loved exploring all the different sounds she could make with this set! She even noticed that hitting the buckets on the sides produced a different sound than hitting them on top. So much fun!!

I think everyone should have one of these — they are SO much fun!!

Bang on the Drums All Day

I can’t even tell you how much FUN Clara had with our make-shift drum table this morning! I laid out a bunch of old pots and pans, lids, and some wooden spoons on her play table.

Then it was time to Rock N Roll!!!

She experimented using the spoons as drumsticks, and later hitting the pans with her hands bongo-style!

There was lots of singing to go along with all this “music”!!

She played her little heart out all morning!!

I think companies should do this before every meeting — it’s great stress relief!

Tripping the Lights Fantastic

Be sure to set your camera to keep the shutter open for a few seconds, and snap some super-fun photos!!

Fun with Music — Ribbon Dancing!

We had rain all day, and the girls needed to burn off some energy. So we tied some ribbon onto some canning lids, cranked up some Latin music, and had a DANCING fiesta in our living room!!

Woo hoo!! Both of the girls had so much fun!!!

Weeeeeeeeee!!!

You know I can’t resist an excuse to get down and boogie…. I joined in too!!

So much fun!!

Easy City Scape Mural

During taping for a segment on today’s 10! Show, I had the pleasure of meeting Eren Cannata, a very talented singer/songwriter who was today’s musical guest. Eren performed his title track from his latest CD “Blame it on the City” — a fantastic song, and it was the inspiration for our lovely city scape mural!

Emily and I put the mural together using inexpensive masking tape, construction paper for buildings, and Post-It Notes of various sizes for the windows. I love how bright and colorful it looks in our living room!

Added bonus — it makes a super-fun backdrop for spontaneous jumping on the couch sessions!!

Even Clara joined in on the fun!
